Mount
Vernon Club Collects for Food Pantry
by Bruce Malkin
On Saturday, September
20, the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club collected food from
the generous customers at the Hollin Hall Safeway.
This food is then donated to the United Communities
Ministries (UCM) Food Pantry for distribution to poor
and hungry families in our area. Eleven members participated
actively in this excellent collection, which netted
over 1,200 pounds of food and $315 in cash and check
donations to UCM to purchase more food! Congratulations
to all who were able to be a part of this successful
effort at community service. The next opportunity like
this will be on Saturday, October 18, but there are only
two time slots still open, so reply to my e-mail address
soon if you want to be included next time.
