My Key Leader Experience by Katie  (Hagerstown, Maryland)

My time at Key Leader was amazing, I actually went to Key  Leader alone; nobody from my school/division chose to go. At first I was pretty anxious to meet everyone and I had a feeling that I would be singled out, but I knew a few of the members from the Key Club District Board were going so I was happy to see them. I'm glad to say that Iwas wrong about being singled out; as I rolled up my suitcase to check-in I was greeted by a few girls. They were very open and friendly towards me and right then and there I knew that it definitely wasn't what I had expected it to be.

As the days passed on I really enjoyed meeting new faces and being a part of Key Leader. We played fun games and the food was good. Everyone was so different; one guy in my neighborhood even traveled seven hours just to come to Key Leader! The activities that the group participated in and meetings we went to built us to be stronger leaders and I think it has helped me a lot.

If you want to have a weekend away, meet new faces, see a beautiful campus and learn how you can help and be helped, attending Key Leader is the way to go! If you haven't gone you should definitely attend Key Leader. Key Leader showed me that no matter who you are you always know that there are people supporting you all the way.

There will be two Spring 2011 Key Leader weekends - April 15-17, 2011 - Williamsburg, Virginia AND May 13-15, 2011 - Millersville, Maryland. Registration will open in January 2011 for both of these events. For more information, please contact Capital District Key Leader Chair Nicole McDermott at CapitalKeyLeader@gmail.com or 703.829.5481.
