Gov. Tom's Message

We are well into the Kiwanis convention season. In a few days over fifty Capital District Kiwanians will leave for Geneva. It will be a crowded three or four days for attendees. There are multiple training opportunities each morning and then sessions each afternoon. The Friday afternoon session is the House of Delegates with the election of the International Officers and one-third of the Trustees. Additionally, there are several receptions/meals for the Eliminate Program, the International Foundation, etc...more

Mount Vernon Club Sponsors Trip to Wax Museum for Kids

On Friday, July 8th, 48 children and 6 chaperones from the UCM Sacramento and Creekside Community Centers went to the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Washington, D.C. The trip was sponsored by the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club, which generously funded the bus and entrance fee...more

 

Pictured is John Iampieri, guest speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Ocean Pines-Ocean city meeting on July 20th at Hall's in Ocean City, as he enlightened the membership about an old Baltimore Custom that started in 1913 in East Baltimore when a local grocer moved his produce inside his store in the summer heat and painted his screen door with art to let customers know it was inside. It caught on as locals wanted their screens painted too!

A is for Africa Visits Mt. Airy Club

The Kiwanis Club of Mount Airy invited Rick and Mary Anne Smith to their July meeting to discuss A is for Africa, a Mount Airy-based charitable foundation whose mission is to improve the lives of children in Tanzania, Africa through improvements in education. One of the most interesting and important points made was the fact that 100% of donations goes directly to the schools and classrooms that A is for Africa has financed...more
