Awards at the Capital District Convention In Dover Inspire!

by Past Governor and Past VP, Capital District Foundation, Bob Cressy

Dover, Delaware, August 21-23, 2009: The 91st Capital District Kiwanis Convention is now a wonderful memory and a well organized testimony to the service that so many in the Capital District perform year after year. After all, our reason for existence is the service we perform together in our communities that we simply could not do by ourselves. Thank you Convention Chair Charles Marks and to your team for a great convention!...more

Monday Morning Growth Team Messages

by Jack White

8/1/09 -- Larry Spone, a Past Governor of Kiwanis from Illinois, tells us some of the secrets to making this multiplier work for your club. Listen!

8/9/09 -- Once again, how we train (and do not train) new club presidents. Governor-Elect candidate Tom Varner helps identify new weak spots in this process and MMM host Jack White again urges that training for incoming club presidents be longer, cover more topics -- and be made mandatory. Much is at stake, so please listen.

8/15/09 -- It has been 20 years since the Capital District ended a year with positive growth numbers, but it could happen this year. For the District to achieve growth, we all have work to so. Hear this encouraging news in our monthly interview with Governor Tom Ganse. Listen.

8/22/09 -- The CEO of Kiwanis International says one of the most important jobs of any Kiwanis leader is to make preparations for, and hand his job over to his or her successor. This is the time of year when that advice Is especially relevant. Listen to a master teacher explain why. Listen.

8/29/09 -- SYLVESTER NEAL, President-Elect of Kiwanis is a real nuts-and-bolts type of leader. For this, his third and final message of this series, he leads us through a Kiwanis web site and directs us to things our clubs can use to help with operations and growth. Listen.

Good Things

by Governor Tom Ganse

They say all good things must come to an end. As usual, "They" don't know what they are talking about. The Capital District had a year to be proud of, and even as my time as your Governor draws to an end, the good things that we did this year will continue into the future. In fact, I believe they will only get better as we continue to catch up to technology and social changes, and our younger leaders with their newer techniques accelerate their movement into positions of leadership and attract more, younger members. ...more
