The Kiwanis Club of Woodbridge Virginia Sponsors Two Thanksgiving Dinners

As in previous years, the Kiwanis Club of Woodbridge Virginia, again sponsored two Thanksgiving Dinners for the seniors citizens of eastern Prince William County.

The dinner for the Woodbridge Senior Citizen's Center was held on November 19, at noon. Members of the Kiwanis Club helped serve the dinners. It was a very delightful experience and the seniors were very pleased with dinner and the festivities associated with the event. Of particular interest were the table centerpieces, whichwere made by the members of the Woodbridge Middle School Builders Club. Somehow all the centerpieces disappeared at the end of the meal. It is assumed that they will end up on another senior's dinner table, this Thanksgiving, which says how much they cherished the pieces. Well done, WMS Builders Club!!

The second dinner was for the Senior Day Care Program at the Ferlazzo Building, Woodbridge, Virginia, on November 24, at noon. This a catered event that was partly paid for by a $600 donation from our Club. Again, the seniors were very appreciative of a very delicious meal.

The dinners are very worthwhile community service events, that bring grateful satisfaction to everyone that attended the dinners; especially, the members of the Woodbridge Club.

The Hylton High School Key Club Holds Car Wash for the Acts Food Pantry

On September 5, 2009, members of the Hylton High School Key Club (Woodbridge, VA) held a car wash to benefit the Action in the Community through Service (ACTS) Food Pantry, located in Dumfries, VA. Through lots of hard dedicated work, the Club raised $600 for the Pantry. On November 23, members of the Club presented a mock check to Michael Hinz, Coordinator of the Food Pantry. Michael was very appreciative of the check, as he needs all the money he can get to purchase food for the many eastern Prince William County families that the Pantry helps each month. The check was presented by Mimi Ong-Ante, the Key Club President and LeAnn Strang and Sarah Smits, the Key Club Faculty Advisors.

The Forest High School Key Club Holds a "Christmas Wishes" Spaghetti Dinner for a Homeless Center

On November 18th, from 5- 7 p.m., the Forest Park High School (FPHS) Key Club of Woodbridge, Virginia, held a spaghetti dinner to benefit eight families they are adopting from the Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center, located in Woodbridge. The money raised will be used to buy Christmas wishes that come directly from the families. This year, the FPHS Key Club is filling the wishes of over 40 people and due to the generosity of over 200 people attending the spaghetti dinner, they are well on their way.

The dinner was a tremendous success and a great deal. For $5.00, you were treated to all you can eat spaghetti, bread, salad and lots of homemade desserts. Also, included was iced tea. But that's not all. The string orchestral quartet played for two hours. Great background music. They were amazing! A good time was had by all.

The spaghetti dinner could not have been pulled off without the help of dozens of Key Clubbers, Learn and Serve students and teachers, administrators and our special friend in the cafeteria Ms. Dawn, who donated her time and cooked all the food.
