Reisterstown Recognizes Master Funnelers; Presents Scholarships; Plans Crab Feast Fundraiser

by Steve Jenkins

One of the Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown's fundraisers is making and selling funnel cakes at local events. On July 21, 2009 we gave awards to 2 of our members (Harriet Gillan and Ben Haas) for making funnel cakes. They are now in the prestigious club, the "Royal Order of Funnelers". Shown below the new Funnelers receiving their award. Top: Gary Beck and Harriet Gillan. Bottom: Jerry DeBar and Ben Haas.

The Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown recently presented six $1,000 scholarships to two students from local High Schools - Franklin High School and Owings Mills High School. The recipients were invited to our regular meeting with their families. We had 4 out of the 6 attend. Pictured from left to right is Mike Grimes (chairman of the committee), Morgan Stine (recipient), Marcie Goodman (recipient), Dig DeGarmo (President of our Club), Stephany Emrich(recipient) and Casey Massicot (recipient).

On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, The Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown is holding its annual Crab Feast at Arcadia Fire Department in Arcadia, Maryland. All are invited. Tickets are only $37.00 each. It will be held from 6-8p.m. Please come and help our fundraiser. Call 410-356-5707 for tickets.
