Ducky Derby Note

by H.L. Marks, Capital District Kiwanis Foundation, Ducky Derby Chair

This year's "Ducky Derby Certificates" have the wrong drawing date printed on them. The correct date is *Saturday, August 22, 2009*. Please ignore the incorrect date.

As usual, the big Ducky Derby drawing will take place at our District Convention (DCON). This is the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation's (CDKF's) big fund-raiser every year, with proceeds benefiting the following seven pediatric hospitals located within our Capital District. To date we've donated over $400,000 to benefit:

  • Children's Hospital National Medical Center, Washington, DC
  • Alfred I. Dupont Institute, Wilmington, DE
  • Kennedy Kreiger Institute, Baltimore, MD
  • Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, Baltimore, MD
  • Children's Hospital, Richmond, VA
  • Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, Norfolk, VA
  • Cumberland Hospital, New Kent, VA

Not only will the purchasers of the Ducky Derby Certificates be helping children in need, but the lucky winners will realize winnings of $500, $400, $300, $200, $100, plus at least a dozen additional cash and prizes worth over $50 each. (These additional prizes and cash have been donated out of pocket by many of the CDKF Trustees and others.)
