Delmarva Conference

Members of Coastal Delaware Kiwanis Club attended the DMV conference January 22 which Lt. Gov Marianne Smith and her home Club hosted in Millsboro, DE.DMV Region presidents from division 11 and 15, including Coastal DE Jim Kunkle attended Gov Tom Varner'sCouncil Meeting to discuss progress in the current Kiwanis year. Joe Brake was well received when he participated in the Community Service Projects session explaining the successful Challenge Day program Coastal DE sponsored.PLG Ken Ellers and PLG Rosemary Cummings provided a session on Building and Maintaining SLPs for the Future, followed by sessions on Secretary and Treasurer training.Members learned pertinent tips for recruiting new members from Past Gov's Art Riley and John Tyner.Members Joe Brake and Margie Spaulding are now on the lookout for candidates to attend Key Leader after attending Jim Jacob's informative session.At the luncheon, Mike Rind had full attention from the audience when he spoke about the Pitfalls of Sexual Harassment.PLG Scott Zimmerman from Hampton Roads Region gave a presentation with PLG Jim Thompson about the KI and Capital District Foundations. Scott invited all to attend the District Convention in Williamsburg August 2011.Scott then presented the Lt. Gov Award for Promoting the Kiwanis Annual Gift to PLG Rosemary CummingsAwards to DMV Clubsand members were not available at the time of the conference and PLG Cummings will present the awards to Div 11 Clubs at a later date. Gov Tom Varner addressed the group and encouraged them to develop more SLPs and increase membership to promote service throughout the world. The delegates then went into session where they elected PLG Rose Poole of Seaford to replace current Trustee Dale Collins in October 2011.
