Mount Vernon Club Gives Free Christmas Trees to Army Wives

by Paul Mehler

Atttached are photos of 3 Army Wives receiving free Christmas Trees from Mount Vernon Kiwanis as part of its annual Christmas Tree Sale.

The wives are from left to right Elizabeth Harvey, Sara Calder, and Virginia Curtis. Each has their husband serving in Afghanistan. They are part of a group called Hearts Apart at Ft Belvoir. This is a group that meets once a month at Ft Belvoir where they can discuss their problems and seek comfort. They are fed a delicious meal and their children are cared for during the meeting. The photos show Mount Vernon member Rich Keil delivering the trees to their home.
