Grafton Club Supports YMCA with $1K Donation

Grafton Kiwanis Club President Steve Staples today presented a $1,000 check to Donna Blake, Victory Family YMCA Community Development Director, for the 2011 Bright Beginnings program.  The $1,000 donation will support the purchase of school backpacks for students participating in Bright Beginnings.  A number of club members also expressed interest in being "Backpack Buddies", i.e. providing school supplies to put in the backpacks, and to serve as volunteers to help students with Bright Beginnings back-to-school apparel shopping.  Grafton Kiwanis has supported Bright Beginnings for several years because it is directly related to the Club's mission of enhancing the growth and development of the community's children.   For more information about Bright Beginnings at the Victory Family YMCA, contact Donna Blake at (757) 867-3300.

YMCA Bright Beginnings is a community outreach program that provides children in need with the fall clothes and school supplies needed to start the new school year with confidence and pride.

"No one can fill Ellis’ shoes, but I will use all the skills and talents I have to be the best District Secretary/Treasurer that I can be," said Tom. ...more
