Get Ready and Register For This Month's District Mid-Winter Conference

by Kristina Dlugozima, Conference Registration Co-Chair (registration@capitaldistrictkiwanis.org)

Registration is available online (and by mail) for the District Mid-Winter Conference being held THIS MONTH --  February 26-28, 2010 -- at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia! This is the first time in five years that the District will come together for a District Mid-Winter Conference. The weekend will be unique as it will be a joint weekend with Kiwanians gathering for fellowship, leadership training, and motivation while Circle K (CKI) members gathering for their 50th District Convention at the same time and place. Kiwanis International President Paul Palazzolo will be joining us for the entire conference. The weekend's theme is "Service Through the Decades," and it promises to be a wonderful event.

For the first time ever in the Capital District, registration is available in a package deal. The package includes registration and all meals and sessions including the on-site Casino Night entertainment activity on Friday evening. The savings on this package is significant, and Kiwanians are encouraged to register this way.

A la carte registration is also available for those wanting to pick and choose their weekend activities with separate prices for registrations, all meals and sessions, and Friday night Casino Night.

Please visit the conference website at www.novakiwanis.org/midwinter/registration.html to register online OR to download a paper registration form to complete and mail. Online registration can be paid with either a credit card online (all major credit cards accepted) or by mailing a check to Kristina Dlugozima, 6129 Strasburg Drive, Centreville, VA 20121.

Pre-registration must be completed online or postmarked by Friday, 2/5/10. This is very soon so don't miss out!  After this time, there is an additional fee on both the package and the a la carte registration. Late registration must be postmarked by Wednesday, 2/17/10. Online registration will accepted until Wednesday, 2/24/10.

Hotel reservations may be made separately online at www.crystalcity.hyatt.com/groupbooking/wasrccirc2010 or by phone at 703.418.1234. Mention "CIRC" (NOT "Kiwanis") to guarantee conference rate. The conference rate is guaranteed until Friday, 2/12/10.  The conference rate is $99.00/night for single/double occupancy, plus applicable tax. This is a great rate - book now!

The conference committee is working hard to bring the members of the Capital District a motivating and fun weekend of education, fellowship, inspiration, and so much more. There will be educational and interesting workshops, engaging speakers, and many opportunities for interaction with our District CKI members and fellow Kiwanians. Please make plans to come and be part of it. Register as soon as possible because we can't wait to see you there!

Additionally, if any club or District Committee would like to have a flyer in the registration packets that each Kiwanian will receive at Mid-Winter, please prepare 250 copies and mail them to Nicole McDermott, 7209 Quiet Cove, Annandale, VA 22003. We must receive these by Friday, 2/12/10; no exceptions. A flyer might promote a fundraiser, advertise a club event, contain information about a District project or a service leadership program, et cetera. If you are going to photocopy a flyer, please consider conserving paper by printing one or two fliers per page.

See you in Arlington! For more information about the conference, please visit www.novakiwanis.org/midwinter or contact registration@capitaldistrictkiwanis.org.
