March 9/10: Attend Keynoter Kiwanis International Trustee Jane Erickson $25

by Joe Stankus, District Administrator, Capital District Key Club

Kiwanis International Trustee Jane Erickson will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Key Club District Leadership Conference (DCON) - March 9-11, in Northern Virginia.

As many of you know who attended Capital District Kiwanis DCON last summer or one of our Key Leader events last spring, Jane Erickson is a dynamic speaker who engages, educates, and empowers her audiences. This year, Jane is counselor to the Capital District in her role as an International Trustee. Capital District Key Club is very fortunate to have Jane be part of our weekend; we know she will leave her handprint on our event in a profound way. If you are not familiar with Jane, some bio information is attached.

We would like to give Capital District Kiwanis members the chance to attend this special event to either a) hear Jane's keynote speech on Friday night and/or b) attend Jane's workshops on Saturday during the day at a cost of a $25 donation to the conference. (This invitation is for those Kiwanis members not already registered for the full weekend.)

Here are the details:

Friday Night, March 9 - 8PM General Session - Jane will give the keynote address to 600+ Key Club students and their advisors. Dress is casual. Energy is high! :)

Saturday, March 10 - Three Workshops facilitated by Jane - Dress is business casual.

10-10:45AM - Student Workshop 1 - Don't Let it Bug You: Stress Management for the Real World: Ever notice there are people places, and things in life that really bug you? Join us for fun and effective ways to tame the bugs and make your life better and a whole lot more fun.

10:50-11:35AM - Student Workshop 2 - High Impact Communication: Ever been misunderstood? Ever walk out of a meeting hearing something different than the person sitting next to you? Ever sent an email or note that had unexpected consequences? Then join us for this fast, fun, and interactive session as we explore the art of communication. You'll be glad you did (and so will your family, friends, co-workers and Key Club friends)!

11:40AM-12:25PM - Adult Workshop - Attitudes Are Contagious: Is Yours Worth Catching?: Did you know you had the power to ripple your entire group with just one statement or one look? This session will look at the power of attitudes in building (or tearing down) your families, your schools, clubs, and organizations. Little things DO mean a lot!

Conference Location: Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202

Parking Options: Valet parking is available at the hotel is $25 per vehicle per 24-hour period. Or, there are 3 local parking lots or decks within a block.
