by Glynnis Schmidt glynnis.schmidt@gmail.com

The Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County is pleased to announce that a local student from its sponsored Key Club at Great Mills High School was recently elected to serve as the Lieutenant Governor of the six Key Clubs that are part of Division 22B, including all Key Clubs in St. Mary's County and southern Calvert County. Caroline Brigham (at right) is currently a junior at Great Mills High School, and will be inducted as incoming Lieutenant Governor (LTG) at the upcoming Capital District Convention of Key Club International on March 9-11, 2012 in Arlington, Virginia. She was elected by students in Division 22B Key Clubs at their Division Council Meeting earlier this month. Caroline is an experienced leader in Key Club having served the Great Mills Club as President during the current 2011-2012 year, and previously as club secretary in 2010-2011. Caroline will follow the current Lieutenant Governor of Division 22B, Alexandra Szewczyk (at left), who is a Key Club member from St. Mary's Ryken High School.

Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through community service to others. There are four Key Clubs in St. Mary's County at Great Mills, St. Mary's Ryken, Leonardtown, and Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy., all sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Mary's County.
