It's that time of year again! Everyone is back to school and our Key Club is starting to meet again. Our officers had their first official meeting of the school year on September 12th. We discussed a variety of things, including: Projects Ideas, Club Organization, Key Leader, New Members, Club Fees and a Builders Club at Bennett Middle School. We came up with a wide variety of project ideas, including: Food drives, Light the Night in October, Volunteering at the Night of the Living Zoo, Doing a Garden, Coastal Clean-up, Glove & Scarf drive, Tree Ornaments for the Parade of Trees and a Car Wash.

During this year, we hope to implement many of these projects during the course of this coming year. We also hope to recruit many new members. To help pay for things such as Key Leader, dues this year are $10. We are looking forward to a very successful year! Volunteers worked October 7 and 8 , when several members volunteered at the Night of the Living Zoo in Salisbury. They helped entertain children, pass out candy, and run games. Thank you to everyone who helped out!

In September, we focused on Trust. We must trust each other as well as the help from other people. When we are trustworthy, we know that others can depend on us. This is a vital importance, especially when you're a member of Key Club. When considering trustworthiness, discuss these questions:

• How do you know when you can trust someone?
• What makes a trustworthy person?
• What does being trustworthy have to

At our last meeting, each Officer leader (Secretary, Editor, President, Etc.) got together lists of people who wanted to help join their committees. Several people signed up for each group, which was very exciting! We can all use all the help we can get! Thank you to everyone! At our board meeting, we discussed several new project ideas for the upcoming months. Some ideas were: Bell ringing for the Salvation Army, Food Drives, Scarf/Hat drives, Builders Club at BMS. We hope to enact these and many more activities throughout the year!

Our focus in October is on respect. When one shows respect, they have a positive, kind, caring attitude, actions, and esteem towards someone else. When people show respect, it is a sign that they have admiration for them. "Respect is nurturing." People have to earn respect. You have to give respect to earn it. We can all show respect every day in our lives. Whether it's towards teachers, parents, or students, everyone deserves to be treated with respect. If we work on treating everyone with respect, we can make our world a better place!
