The Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown held its first Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Reisterstown United Methodist Church.  There were many that came and enjoyed the breakfast.  We would like to thank the many clubs that came out to support us.  This was such a huge success that we are already planning our next breakfast.

Peninsula at Oyster Point, Newport News, Virginia
. Our club donated 150 dictionaries (one to every fourth grade student) at Palmer Elementary School in Newport News. This is part of their partners in education emphasis! Pictured are Ernie Bretana, Bob Huggard, Jim McDevitt, and Aubrey Fitzgerald on Dictionary Day, October 20, 2011.

Kiwanis Club of Northwest Washington Member Promotes Dental Health. The Kiwanis Club of Northwest Washington, D.C. knows the importance of a healthy smile! Founding member and retired dentist, Dr. Clarence "Bud" Schatz, Jr., reminds us to brush our teeth at least twice a day. He also reminds us of how easily he persuaded former patients to join Kiwanis. Who knew all you needed was a dentist's chair and a drill in hand? In October 2011, Bud, wife Nancy and the rest of the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Washington, D.C. donated 300 tubes of toothpaste to Mamie D. Lee School, a school providing high-quality education and services to students with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Healthy teeth are important and we're helping the students at Mamie D. Lee School maintain their great smiles one tube at a time.

The Colonial Heights Kiwanis Club will have its Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday November 5th at the Colonial Heights Middle School (500 Conduit Road). All proceeds will go to the Colonial Heights Kiwanis Scholarship and Community Fund. The Colonial Heights Kiwanis Club currently awards 4 - $1,000.00 scholarships to the best-qualified Colonial Heights High School students meeting the established criteria. The cost of the breakfast is $4.00 per ticket and consists of all you care to eat pancakes, sausages and drinks. The breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You may obtain tickets from any of the Colonial Heights Kiwanis members and tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event. The Martinsville Kiwanis Club conducted a very successful Fall pancake day on October 13, 2011 Serving over 650lbs jof sausage and 22 cases of pancake batter. A job well done and enjoyed by all. I have attached two pictures that were featured here in the Martinsville Bulletin

On Saturday, September 24, the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club (MVKC) held a Food Drive from 9-5 at the Hollin Hall Safeway on Fort Hunt Road.  Generous shoppers donated over 1500 pounds of much needed food and about $300 in donations, which MVKC delivered to UCM to buy more food to distribute to needy families in our community.  The photo shows MVKC member Greg Engelking poised to accept more food donations outside the Safeway, which has been very cooperative over the years with the MVKC effort to support UCM's Food Pantry.  Other MVKC members who participated were Rich Keil, Bob Valone, Bruce Malkin, Joanne Malkin, Lee Palmer, Perry Leonard, Don Reynolds and Dave Reynolds.  The next scheduled MVKC Food Drive is Saturday, November 12.
