by Jim Hart

Capital District Foundation Board Member, PLG Donald W. Jones (center), of the Charlottesville Kiwanis Club, accompanied by Donald Foss, President of the Club, presented a check for $3,500 to Amy Wicks-Horn, Director of the Annual Fund for the University of Virginia Children's Hospital, at a recent meeting of the club at the Elk's Lodge. Over the past 20 years, the Kiwanis Capital District Foundation has contributed approximately $80,000 to UVA's outstanding Children's Hospital. Ms. Wicks-Horn provided the club with an extensive status report of the plans for The Barry and Bill Battle Building which will consolidate children's outpatient health services at UVA. Founded in April, 1922, the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville sponsors 5 Key Clubs at local high schools and a CKI Club at the University of Virginia, providing service and leadership development opportunities to more than 400 youth.
