Why Should Your Club Charter a New Builders Club: Reason #8

by Jennifer Dugent Wolff

We can put the kids to work!

Yes, we know that child labor laws are alive and well in the Capital District. This isn’t that type of article. I have previously mentioned how Kiwanians have the opportunity to help our their Builders Club students with projects, but this relationship is not completely one-sided. Builders Club is a valuable resource for Kiwanis Clubs. The students want to be involved and help out, so let them.

There are many ways that your Builders Club can help with your Kiwanis projects. Are you giving out bagged meals to the homeless? Let the students make the pb&j sandwiches for you beforehand. Are you having your annual pancake breakfast fundraiser? Ask the students to clear tables and serve food. Do you have young parents who want to join Kiwanis but can’t find anywhere to keep their children during meetings? You’ve got a built in babysitting team to watch the children onsite.

It is easy to get the kids involved. So let them in and reap the benefits! But first you need a Builders Club. Contact Builders Club Administrator Jen Wolff to learn how your club can get your very own Builders Club.
